QU-2-4K22 – 1 to 2 Full 4K HDMI Distribution Amplifier

The QU-2-4K22 HDMI Splitter is a 1 to 2 4K HDMI Distribution Amplifier that accepts one HDMI input and splits this signal to two identical outputs. Making it a reliable HDMI splitter for distributing high-quality content to multiple displays simultaneously. This device supports 4K2K Ultra-High Definition video with HDMI2.0 and HDCP2.2 compliance. In addition, 3D Video signals and High Definition Audio formats such as LPCM 7.1CH, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Atmos and DTS-HD Master Audio, audio sampling rate up to 192kHz are also supported.

When a mixture of displays with different specifications and resolutions are connected, each output of the QU-2-4k22 HDMI Splitter can automatically scale 4K to 1080p or apply colour space conversion (4:4:4 to 4:2:0), as appropriate, based on each connected display’s EDID requirements. CEC “active source” command can be enabled to periodically reset input selection on CEC compatible connected displays. This unit is controlled via front-panel switches with easy to read status LED’s.

QU-2-4K22 FAQ

I understand what the product does but what information are the LED on the front telling me?

The LED on the front of the QU-2-4K22 are providing useful product and signal information. I guess the Power LED is self explanatory so lets look at the others, the 3G : 6G LEDs are telling you the bandwidth of the incoming signal put simply the 3G means the signal is 1080p and the 6G means the signal is 4K.

The SYNC In and Out LEDs are telling that the QU-2-4K22 can 'see' the devices connected to it, so if something is not working you can visually see what's not right, say the IN SYNC LED is not alight, this means the QU-2-4K22 cannot see the HDMI source device, this may be simply because its not powered on.

Finally, the HDCP In and Out LEDs are informing you that the copy protection HDCP signal is being received by the QU-2-4K22 from the HDMI source and that the displays connected to the outputs have confirmed all is OK with this bit of the signal....well you did ask :-)

In the QU-2-4K22 description it is referred to as both an HDMI Distribution Amp and an HDMI Splitter, why is this?

Good question and without getting to technical, the correct term for a powered product that makes multiple versions of the same signal is a distribution amplifier but as you used to be able to take an aerial RF TV signal and 'split' it into two versions of the same signal with a passive 'Y' cable splitter it became common to call anything that makes multiple versions of a signal a Splitter and therefore we try to use both terms so no matter what you are used to calling this type of product you understand what it is.
